An insigh into Internet Marketing
59What is it All About ?
I was reading one of the hubs that was on the hot list, it was called you cannot earn money online. It got me thinking, in the end i couldn't work out if it was suppose to be a satire, a rank or just some bad blood. But the Hub Page did make some valid points about earning an income online, mostly about affiliate marketing.
One thing you really need to do when you start doing online marketing, reguardless of the products/advertising your pushing, and the methods you are using is work out if your going to take it seriously or not. This seems like a no brainer! But alot of people don't really take it seriously, they'll take some action (ie create a blog/website or landing page) and get some traffic sit back, and see if it works, and if it doesn't, discount it, and move on to the next "system".
Does that sound familar to you at all? The main issue that causes it, is obviously hype, you have dozens of emails at a product launch telling you how good it is, that they have seen it (usally a good seller will give their affiliate's an advanced - usally beta version of the product to look at), and tell you it's going to work if you try it. Then on the sales page, pictures of clickbank earns that are in the 1000$'s per day.
If your an internet Marker you have seen this several times haven't you?
If you haven't worked it out, here's the general tatics of a decent sales page (add/remove/change order where needed!)
*Out Rageous Claim 1
* Personal sales pitch / story
* Out Rageous CLaim 2
* Testimonals from a bit hitter
* Income Claim (usally screen shots)
* Personal Story, makes it about you
* Lots more Testimonals
* What you are going to be getting
* LImited Offer hurry(ie a call to action, usally pricing going up, only X left
* Buy Now
* PS/PPS/PPPS
* More Information (this varies alot - but it seems alot of them push the buy now up the bottom on purpose recently)
Now them might not in that order on every sales page, but you get the general idea. One of the main sellings pitches they use, is a call to action, this is something that will get you over the line, ie we are only open for 3 days, 47 copies left, or price going up in 5 days. Thoses General things that either make the current price good value, or will remove the product.
Why am i telling you all this? Well it's importiant to know. If you know that, you'r on your way to possibley understanding the world of IM. It's imporitant to know this stuff if you want to become one of those internet marketers that is making a living online. Why ? Well it's because they understand their target market, and once you understand how your buyers are thinking, you can start making it they want to buy your products. Getting to this point will take time thou, but it's doable.
Now, i did go a little off topic perhaps, but not really. If you have read this far, i want you to really think, how much time did they spend making their product, how much time promoting it to get the product promoted. How much time on the sales page? it wasn't 1-2 hours a day, they would of be working 4-8 hours a day easily, most likey more. THis is in addition to their other sites / things they do to generate their bread and butter income.
You See, one of the main things you need to decide in internet marketing, is if you want to make it a hobby or a business. These people that are making 6k/month, or even $2million a year, treat it like a business. Which gets us back to the point i skimed over when i started.Do you think they make a site, stand back, wait 2 weeks and see if it worked? No they didn't. They'll Make a site, try something out, and let it age in the background, while that is happening, they'll make another 10-20 sites, and see how they are all going. Marketing is a numbers game, Making one site gives you a low chance of Success. If you start increasing the amount of sites, throw some real time into it, you'll get results, even if they are small, it all adds up.
Everyone these days seems to expect instant gradification. If does happen but it's rare. The main point i really want to make with this article, is that If you pick something, stick with it. Follow the system (their way). do it several times, man, even do it 50 times. You'll see if it really works then. If your not really following the system you can't really tell if it works then can you? And your stuck in the same old runt, make a site, discount the system, move onto the next one.
One great way about following a system, and doing it over and over again, you can learn very quickly what is working, and what isn't. Even if the system doesn't live up to it's hype, you'll come away alot better off in having at least come income from it, and knowing better what to look for in the future, or even a good idea on something to try yourself.
Ok that's it for this post, hope you enjoyed it, and looking forward to your comments!

Everyone appreciates a realist in the fold. Good piece you have here. Your outline of the contents of scammish/spammy-sounding landing pages is much appreciated, and most of them are oddly long and scroll down almost endlessly, listing in large fonts one outrageous claim after another (pausing only to show a fabricated testimonial and scans of cheques and other alleged evidence).
But you do raise a good point. These people, regardless of their moral orientation, do seem to know their audience; they took their online marketing seriously, and not just as something fun to do on the side. And it's only based on that serious commitment can we safely say when a marketing strategy works or not. I'm an Internet marketing enthusiast myself, and I'm always appreciative of honest voices.
